Conveyor technology Agriculture and Farming

Agriculture still makes a significant contribution to the wellbeing of people generally with its seeding and harvesting activities. Supplying the population with basic nutrition would be impossible without agriculture. In order for agriculture to fulfill this all-important assignment, it requires modern seeding and harvesting machines, which allow it to work efficiently. The development and construction of these seeding and harvesting machines by the agra-industry, which is normally represented by mid-sized companies, often includes the use of rollers for the further conveying of crops. These machines usually involve all-embracing solutions with complex functions, which also include feed and discharge devices.

Rollers in conveyor technology for agriculture

Agricultural machines operate in the open air and are therefore exposed to wind and weather. This means our customers attach great importance to the fact that our rollers are made from rustproof material. In addition, storage of our rollers must be well sealed, so that no dirt particles may penetrate the carrier roller bearing under harsh conditions. This is the only way trouble-free operation of our rollers can be guaranteed over a longer period of time. The challenge in the case of these contracts is that harvesting machines whose crops are subsequently used for processing into foods are always exposed to some moisture. This applies to both the harvesting itself due to the air humidity as well as cleaning the harvesters with water from a hose after the work is done. It is especially this aforementioned but necessary cleaning procedure that adds significantly to the exposure of the sensitive bearings of the rollers. Only a properly reliable seal can protect the carrier roller bearing from premature wear and tear.

Agricultural machines as a complete solution

Harvesters, which are designed to be complete solutions, process unpeeled potatoes, for example. These are found in plastic containers, they have to be cleaned and conveyed with care. The rollers are located under a conveyor belt. Whenever disruptions to the conveyor devices on these harvesters occur, the entire conveyor system must be replaced in some cases. However, sometimes it is enough to replace the no longer functional rollers separately. A particularly suitable series of rollers in such cases is the series 16 in the recessed version. This series consists of a stainless steel tube with axle. In addition, these rollers with ball bearings made of stainless steel are equipped and sealed with felt rings. A special customer request is to personalize the labyrinth with the customer’s name (private labeling).

Special requirements of the agricultural machines

The operation of agricultural machines with conveying devices imposes special requirements on the rollers of these conveying devices. The seals of the bearings of these rollers must meet the highest standards. This is the only way the bearings can function reliably and trouble-free even after prolonged operation. Thanks to our extensive stock of different versions of our rollers, we can usually fulfill any customer order with our standard range of rollers. Sometimes it is required that the bearing seal must be adapted to achieve a satisfactory sealing result in a particularly delicate application in the case of extreme contamination.

We can normally execute our customer orders immediately and promptly. Only the usual arrangements on the kind of application in question are necessary. We then choose the appropriate rollers for the currently pending standard or even special case.

We do not conclude any service contracts with our customers for the maintenance of rollers, as we regard these products as subject to wear and tear. We cater to customer requests in a way that we can offer them quantity assurance contracts. This is how we ensure that the customer is promptly and immediately supplied with the required replacement of rollers in the event of disruptive downtimes in the short term.

Our customers are satisfied with our product quality and our delivery options at short notice, as these customer-friendly delivery terms result in an increase in their efficiency. It is normally unnecessary to replace complete feeder devices. In most cases, disruptions that occur can be eliminated by replacing defective rollers promptly and quickly. Our customers appreciate our reliability that also enables them to produce and supply special versions of rollers within fixed delivery times as required.

ROS RollenTechnik provides our customers with performance that includes quoting, project management, procurement and contract drafting, which also includes scheduled quantities and agreed delivery times.

Our customer-friendly delivery terms extend to delivery arrangements, forwarding agents, and special packaging to avoid transport damage. This gives our customers the greatest possible assurance of virtually excluding disruption-related losses and associated lengthy downtimes
