Conveyor technology for the engineering and automotive industry

Assembly lines of modern industrial companies, such as the automotive industry, have to cope with enormous logistical challenges. The most varied individual components, which are needed to assemble the finished product, have to be available at the right time, in the required amount and at precisely the right place. Conveyors with driven rollers can make a significant contribution to solving these logistical problems effectively. As such, conveying is by no means restricted to movements in a straight line. With the targeted use of conical rollers, movements along curves can also be carried out at any time.

The most important components of conveyor systems

The most important elements of conveyor systems are the ball-bearing rollers, which can also be supplied as driven rollers. The drive can be designed optionally using a round belt or chain in both single and double versions. Conveyor chains, which are produced in accordance with ISO 606 (DIN ISO 8187 European type), have the advantage of slip-free power transmission. For special applications, an electric drive using a 24V DC motor is also possible. In this way, independent conveying of goods is possible along linear or even curved sections. Depending on the configuration, the maximum conveying speeds can be up to 2 m per sec.

Parts to be conveyed often have to be turned completely or partly to get them into the desired position. This can be achieved by using polydirectional rollers. Thanks to its smooth-running design, this versatile component has excellent material flow properties that mean it can be used in virtually any application.

For special applications, it may be advantageous to slightly lift the goods to be conveyed with point or line contact, convey them further in sections and set down again. For this purpose, one or more driven square rollers are suitable as conveying elements.

The appropriate axle versions for automotive conveyor technology

The particular application of conveyor rollers with its individual challenges determines the most suitable axle design. Whether the axle now has an internal thread, an external thread with nut, an external thread with a shoulder, a spring design or a width across flats, each individual design has its specific advantages. The local conditions for the use of conveyor rollers must also be included in planning considerations in any case.

Automotive conveyor technology as a standalone product and production sector of mechanical engineering

By its very nature, conveyor technology also plays a crucial and particular role in the automotive industry. A conveyor belt is difficult or impossible to imagine without conveyor technology. The complexity of conveyor belts for the automotive industry poses an enormous challenge for the safe and reliable functioning of conveyor systems of all kinds. The large number of individual components that are required to assemble an automobile alone is an indication of the necessary and especially flexible design of conveyor systems to be installed. Modern roller conveyors can be fitted with robust rollers of any required type, whose carrying capacity is up to 400 kg per carrier roller. This means that even heavy goods such as auto parts can be conveyed easily and quickly to any desired location. Extensive tests guarantee safe functioning for longer periods and especially in continuous operation.

The safe and especially careful conveying of goods of all types also often requires a very special surface treatment of the rollers. Depending on the sensitivity of the parts to be conveyed, the rollers can be designed with various special coatings. Whether the outer jacket is made of PVC tubing, PU tubing, natural PU tubing, antistatic PU tubing, textile tubing or polyolefin shrink tubing, depends largely on the parts to be conveyed. Of course, the rollers can also be anodized as aluminum tube, sanded and polished stainless steel tube or as a powder-coated tube in various RAL tones. What is crucial for the ideal selection of coatings is always the prevailing local conditions and the type of goods to be conveyed.

The satisfaction of our customers with the conveyor technology we supply and install is confirmation for us to continue on our way and to single-mindedly tackle and promote coming new developments.
